Odditi

Odditi is a collaborative art and design studio founded by Haydee Dowse and Jonathan Glaser, partners whose roots connect Sydney and Stockholm. Established in 2020, the practice maintains creative spaces in Australia and Sweden, reflecting the pair’s shared interest in travel, nature, and the relationship between people and their surroundings. Their work spans sculptural furniture, mirrors, textiles, and decorative objects, bringing an imaginative perspective to pieces designed for everyday living.

The studio explores how natural forms can be abstracted and transformed into unexpected objects. Geological structures, organic contours, and the textures of the landscape become starting points for designs that feel familiar yet surreal. Dowse and Glaser approach their way of living as part of their creative process, seeking to bring something of the wild natural world into domestic spaces. This connection shapes objects that invite curiosity while retaining a practical role within an interior.

Material selection is central to this exploration. Petrified wood, volcanic stone, sandstone composites, carved timber, and tactile upholstery introduce contrasting surfaces and physical qualities across the collections. Handmade production allows variations in the materials and sculpting process to remain visible, giving each piece an individual presence. The studio works across limited editions and unique objects, with pieces made to order through processes that emphasize the relationship between natural character and deliberate shaping.

The Rocky Montage coffee table uses petrified wood in a numbered edition of thirty-five, allowing the material’s distinctive patterns to contribute to each composition. True Grit combines petrified wood, lava stone, and granite, while Moonrise Kingdom pairs hand-carved acacia with Icelandic sheepskin. These works explore different expressions of weight, texture, and softness, translating the studio’s interest in nature into furniture that engages both the eye and the body.

Odditi’s exploration extends into mirrors and textiles. A Beautiful Mind draws on sedimentary rock formations, using a hand-sculpted sandstone composite frame to give a reflective object a geological presence. The Naughty By Nature chair introduces textile artworks from the studio’s Biophilia Dreamin’ collection, combining patterned upholstery with carved wood and bronze details. Across these different scales and materials, Dowse and Glaser develop a shared visual world in which function, fantasy, and natural references remain closely connected.
