Studio Bovti

Studio Bovti is an interdisciplinary design studio based in Stuttgart, Germany, founded in 2024 by Inna Strokous and Marius Schwald. Ukrainian-born Strokous studied architecture and developed her practice through interior design and creative direction, while German-born Schwald trained in interior architecture and worked in project management. After meeting at an architectural firm, the pair began developing furniture and objects together, bringing their complementary experience into a practice spanning collectible design and interiors.

Their work explores how materials can carry stories, evoke associations, and challenge expectations. Each project develops through direct experimentation, with the founders actively involved in shaping and producing their pieces. Natural stone, ceramics, recycled paper, plaster, wood, and textiles provide different opportunities to explore texture, weight, and form. This hands-on approach allows discoveries during fabrication to influence the design, preserving an element of curiosity and unpredictability within the finished object.

The Cartapesta series examines the relationship between apparent fragility and physical weight, pairing papier-mâché structures with natural stone tops. Its organic forms complicate the distinction between the materials, inviting closer attention to their construction. The Animal Lights collection takes a more playful direction, using colored plaster to create lamps inspired by imaginary creatures. Named Monkey, Worm, and Dino, these pieces draw on childhood imagination while serving a practical role within an interior.

Collaboration brings specialist knowledge into this experimentation. The studio has worked with ceramicist Kenji Fuchiwaki, seamstress Heidrun Schwald, and stonemason Thomas Gross, combining distinct craft traditions within its projects. In the Nougat stool, selected wood fragments and resin form an individually patterned seat above a solid maple base. Variations that emerge as the resin cures become part of each piece’s identity, reflecting the studio’s interest in the meeting of deliberate composition and material behavior.

Studio Bovti introduced its work through a solo exhibition at Galerie Sammlung Amann in Stuttgart and was featured in ICON magazine in October 2024. A subsequent interview in COLLECTIBLE’s In-Depth series explored the founders’ approach to craftsmanship and emotional connection. Alongside its objects, the studio develops interiors for residential, hospitality, retail, and work environments, extending its attention to material, proportion, and atmosphere from individual pieces into complete spaces.
