Arturel

Arturel is a Danish design studio based in Aarhus, founded by Anders Cederholm, Nital Patel, and Thor Emil Boisen. Bringing together experience in the art market, product design, construction, and woodworking, the founders developed a practice that combines sculptural wall art with acoustic function. Their work explores how colour, texture, form, and sound influence the way people experience their surroundings, creating pieces intended to bring visual interest and acoustic comfort into everyday life.

Rooted in Danish design and craftsmanship, Arturel creates layered compositions with a tactile, three dimensional presence. Its Arch collection explores the rhythm of curved and linear forms, while Wave draws inspiration from the movement of the sea. Repetition and carefully arranged layers give these works depth, allowing light and shadow to become part of their expression. Designed to absorb sound, the pieces integrate acoustic treatment into the visual identity of a space.

Material reuse is central to the studio’s approach. Its collections incorporate recycled PET felt, including material derived from ocean bound plastic, alongside upcycled textiles. Through its collaboration with Kvadrat Really, Arturel transforms textile felt into sculptural acoustic compositions, with selected works presented in handmade solid oak frames. These projects reflect an ongoing interest in giving discarded materials a new purpose through considered design and production.

Arturel also develops installations that respond to the architecture and character of individual projects. At the DEAS headquarters in Valby, Denmark, its acoustic works were installed across multiple floors, introducing tactile surfaces and grouped compositions within an environment of concrete, glass, and steel. The project was discussed in the Danish publication Indret’s sponsored feature “Arturel: Akustisk kunst som dekorativ effekt og vejviser,” published in October 2024, which explored the studio’s combination of acoustic performance, wall decoration, and wayfinding. Kvadrat has also documented Arturel’s Aarhus headquarters, highlighting their shared exploration of circular materials in contemporary design.

Arturel’s Arch Tile acoustic panels also appeared in Architectural Digest’s Open Door episode “Inside Zedd’s New LA Home with His Dream Music Studio.” Within the musician’s creative environment, their sculptural arches connect acoustic function with the architectural motifs and visual identity of his studio.
