llab.design

llab.design is a Ukrainian furniture and collectible design brand based in Kyiv, founded in 2022 by architect and designer Aleksandr Bosenko and third-generation stonemason Vadim Livshyts. The studio brings together Bosenko’s architectural practice, AIIX.STUDIO, and the expertise of Livshyts’s family stone manufacturing company, INSTECH. Their longstanding friendship and professional collaboration developed into a shared exploration of natural stone through contemporary furniture and sculptural objects.

Working with stone sourced from quarries in more than ten countries, llab.design places the material’s individual character at the centre of its practice. Veining, colour, and surface texture contribute to each piece, while contrasts between rough carving and carefully finished details shape the studio’s visual language. Its collections explore the relationship between the weight of stone and the delicacy of form, translating an ancient material into objects designed for contemporary interiors.

Collaborations with Ukrainian designers bring distinct perspectives to this material research. Alina Kravchuk’s VIYALO collection develops the folded geometry of a fan across furniture and decorative wall panels. The Wind Power panel gives this reference a sculptural expression, suggesting movement through carved stone. Roksolana Denys’s DUALITY collection introduces another approach, connecting pyramid-shaped elements through flowing lines that explore the relationship between strength and fragility.

The wider collection includes dining tables, coffee tables, consoles, benches, cabinets, lighting, and decorative objects. Alongside these pieces, llab.design develops bespoke furniture and stone elements for individual interiors. Architects, designers, engineers, and craftspeople work together within the practice, connecting the development of a design with the practical knowledge required to realise it in stone. This collaborative structure supports both collection pieces and commissions with particular spatial requirements.

The brand made its international debut during Milan Design Week in 2022, presenting its first VIYALO object. Subsequent presentations included Salone del Mobile in Milan and Maison&Objet in Paris in 2023. These appearances introduced its work to international audiences, establishing a platform for a Ukrainian practice grounded in stone craftsmanship, architectural thinking, and collaboration with contemporary designers.
